New orleans saints against Detroit Lions in Football Post Season Wagering

In terms of scheduling, maybe the Detroit Lions just are unlucky. First, they finish their regular season against their division foe Packers, who furthermore possess the league’s greatest record. They then follow that up by pulling the New orleans saints in the 1st round of the playoffs.

The Jan 7 – Detroit Lions vs Saints game will be the 2nd meeting of the 2 teams this season. New Orleans won the 1st match in New Orleans 31-17. New Orleans is a 10.5 point fave to defeat Detroit this week, and this is maybe part of the reason.

Another is that New Orleans is on a roll. They have won eight contests back to back arriving into this week’s competition with Detroit, beating 3 other playoff teams throughout that stretch. Following kicking an enemy competitor with his cleats, defensive star Ndamukong Suh was suspended for 2 contests, but Detroit managed to pull things together. They won 3 out of their last 4 contests of the season, just losing a tight game to 15-1 Green Bay. When they last confronted New Orleans, they were devoid of Suh, and Detroit is hoping the return of his presence to the defensive line will be the difference they must stop Drew Brees and the powerful New Orleans offense.
Sadly for Detroit, that New Orleans offense has been on fire for the 2nd half of the season. They have gone over 40 in four of their last 6 and won more than 40 points in their last 3 contests. A while back this year in New Orleans they tumbled 62 points on Indianapolis, and they are 8-0 in their home stadium this season.
Detroit has had trouble this year against higher powered competition, going 1-5 against playoff teams (just beating Denver). Their offense has the possibility to be high-flying, and therefore it will be up to their defense to ensure they are in this match. If Suh is likely to atone for his two-game suspension, the time has come.
