The U.S. 23-man squad for the 2010 world cup has been named and the U.S. is expected to build some noise in 2010 world cup odds.

U.S. coach Bob Bradley names his 23-man roster on Wednesday and there are several familiar names on it. Landon Donovan and DaMarcU.S. Beasley are on the squad again but there are several new faces including Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez. The squad had 7 people cut from it. They were defenders Heath Pearce and Chad Marshall; midfielders Robbie Rogers, Alejandro Bedoya, and Sacha Kljestan; and forwards Eddie Johnson and Brian Ching.
This will be the third World Cup for Donovan, Beasley, and defender Steve Cherundolo. The majority of the people on the U.S. roster come from Europe. In fact, 17 of the 23 people have been competing in Europe. There are 2 from Mexican teams and four from the MLS. Eight of the players have been competing in England, 3 in Germany, 2 in Scotland, and one particular in Italy, France, Norway and Denmark.
The U.S. is a long shot to win the World Cup as they are listed at 52-1. England is the first choice to win Group C, with the U.S. in 2nd. The U.S. is 4-1 to win Group C while England is the odds-on favorite at -325. Slovenia and Algeria are not expected to be a great deal of threat in that group. On Saturday, June 12th, the U.S. will kick off World Cup play vs England. England is a -210 favorite in that match while the U.S. is 470 and the Draw is 290.
In 1994, the U.S. hosted the World Cup. It has not yet, however, won the championship.

The FIFA World Cup for 2010 will begin on June 11th and is expected to run through July 11th. This is the first time ever that the World Cup has been hosted by an African nation. South Africa beat out Morocco and Egypt for the honor. The FIFA World Cup is held once every four years and features 32 teams from different nations competing against each other for the championship in football. This event has historically been dominated by Brazil, which holds a record five titles and is the only team to have played in every tournament. The current champion is Italy, which has won the title four times total. The next World Cup will be held in 2014 in Brazil.
