Ivory Coast Takes a Hit in 2010 world cup Betting with Drogba Injury

Any opportunity Ivory Coast had of making a significant run in World Cup gambling could have ended on Friday when star striker Didier Drogba broke his arm in a warm up competition versus Japan.
Drogba is expected to miss at least some of the World Cup and the probability of Ivory Coast even making it out of the group stage in World Cup probabilities are now in question.
World Cup gambling probabilities posted Ivory Coast as a definite contender although they’re in a hard group with Brazil and Portugal. It is unlikely that Ivory Coast will have enough scoring to reach the round of sixteen devoid of Drogba in the lineup. Drogba was injured in Ivory Coast’s 2- victory vs Japan. He was hurt following a high challenge by Japan’s Marcus Tulio Tanaka. Even though their coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was not completely ruling Drogba out of event, the team said that Drogba broke his right arm. Drogba had surgery over the past weekend and there’s an opportunity he might still play.
Drogba had 29 goals this season for Chelsea and Ivory Coast was considered a menace in Group G considering of his scoring capacity. Ivory Coast kicks off play versus Portugal on June 15th and devoid of Drogba’s scoring it appears unlikely they will win that competition. The 2010 World Cup probabilities on Ivory Coast had been dropping and were as low as 23-1 to win it all. Look for those probabilities to go up now that Drogba is out. Also look for the probabilities on the Ivory Coast games to be modified slightly. Portugal was already the favorite in the opening competition versus Ivory Coast and those World Cup gambling probabilities may go up a little bit with the news that Drogba is out.
Friday was not an awesome day for star players because England’s captain Rio Ferdinand was injured during training in Rustenburg, South Africa. Also on Friday, Italy learned that midfielder Andrea Pirlo has an injured calf and his standing is doubtful. US team striker Jozy Altidore has a sprained right ankle and his standing is up in the air and even Brazil goaltender Julio Cesar has been dealing with a back injury. A number of high profile players have already dropped out of the 2010 world cup. As well as Drogba, other players who are injured and out of the 2010 world cup include England’s David Beckham, Germany’s Michael Ballack and Ghana’s Michael Essien.
The FIFA World Cup will begin on June 11th and is expected to run through July 11th. This is the first time ever that the World Cup has been hosted by an African nation. South Africa beat out Morocco and Egypt for the honor. The FIFA World Cup features 32 teams from different nations playing versus each other for the championship in football and is held once every 4 years. Brazil, which holds a record 5 championships and is the only team to have competed in every tournament, has historically dominated this event. The current champion is Italy, which has won the championship 4 times total. Brazil will be hosting the following World Cup in 2014.
